Adult / Teen Beginners’ course
If you prefer individual pursuits to team sports, or find exercise more fun if it engages your brain as well as your body, or you simply fancy a new challenge, then fencing could be just the thing for you to try. A traditional sport of quick reflexes and tactical thinking, fencing will stimulate your mind and fire up your fitness. Epee – one of the three weapons used in modern fencing – is a great weapon to start with as there are no tricky rules and no limit to the target area. And what better place to learn than a friendly, popular club with members of all ages!
On the subject of age, if you’re thinking you’re too old to try fencing, then think again! The coach of this class is Don Coe, who at 94 years of age is – we believe – the oldest active fencing coach in the world. You’ll be amazed how active he actually is!
All equipment is provided, just wear tracksuit bottoms and trainers – and bring a drink. If you wish, you can pay for the first session as a taster then decide if you’d like to commit to the full course. Each class costs £12.
RTWFC’s next Adult / Teen beginners course will begin on 30th October and end on 11th December, and will take place from 7-830pm at Holmewood House sports hall. To find out how to join us for a ‘taster’ session, click here.
